Led by contemporary vaudevillian and person-of-mystery Plectro, Plectrophrenia are a masked music trio who inhabit a weird, unsettling world somewhere between traditional jazz and madcap modernity.

Bio and offerings
MISSION
Formed in 2026, Plectrophrenia are a trio of masked musicians specialising in jazz and roots-orientated music with a very unusual visual twist. The trio’s mission is to bring you high-quality musical performances presented in a way which keeps audiences visually engaged and intrigued, combining vintage selections from the repertoire of popular song alongside quirky treatments of contemporary classics. Traditional music and jazz can sometimes seem overly serious these days, so the trio delights in choosing high-impact and approachable material and in subverting traditional performance conventions to create something which is steeped in Vaudeville yet resonates with the unpredictability of 21st century life.
BIO
Plectrophrenia’s personnel are highly skilled and experienced London-based musicians. The leader is Plectro, who plays acoustic guitar and 1920s style plectrum banjo in the manner of the ‘King of the Banjo’ Eddie Peabody. Plectro’s pride and joy is a modern-day recreation of a vintage Vox style banjo by German master luthier Norbert Pietsch. Plectro is joined by Rhythmo, who plays (mostly) rhythm guitar, and Basso, who plays the bass. The trio always perform in masks to protect their identities, which are a closely guarded secret.
OFFERINGS
In addition to audio and video recordings, Plectrophrenia offer three different live performance formats. The Concert Cabaret is a 15 to 90-minute performance of music interspersed with comedy and repartee, designed for a listening audience. The Scene Setter is meant for events where a more discreet musical spectacle is needed to set the scene or to enhance the mood while not being the central attraction, or for an intimate celebratory setting. The Popup is a highly mobile, roaming format with short, fully acoustic performances in various locations across the venue, ideal for expos and other crowd-based events. All offerings are available in a solo, duo, or trio line-up, or with added vocals, violin, trumpet, trombone, clarinet or saxophone.
